Getting Started on the Web in Plain English
Resources:
Domain Names, Web Hosting, and WebMaster
The WebMaster for Your Website before You Have Your Real Website: this is the guy! He understands just what you need, and will work with you to get your domain names registered, your one-page website hosted,
serving you well until you are ready for your real web site.
Marcus Yong can help you set up your one-page site, revamp your current site to be easier to use and more effective in marketing your business, set up sales pages, and get you started with your first real website, and then be there for the routine maintenance and implementing your next best and brightest ways of using the
web. Click here for more info
Putting up a real Website:
Marcus (see his information above) can help you put your website up, but you still need to write it. Luckily Robert
Middleton, of the Info Guru fame has a new do-it-yourself workbook on how to write the copy for your crucial first real website for
your Professional Services Business. Be sure to get his Website Tool Kit. It’s a small investment for a huge return.
For an example of how one client got off the dime, finished what she had been stewing about for ages, and put up her First Real Website, using the Website Toolkit, Marcus’s package of services for Your First Real Website, and three months of coaching with me,
in less than three months, just

Selling from the Web:
For a great introduction and how to’s about the various types of web sites, be sure to check out Jeanette Cates site about
internet strategy.
Jeanette is a master at all things to do with strategically designing and using the right kind of website. And, there are lots of good articles for the basics and not so basics, of website choices.
If you are ready to set up a site to sell your ebook, or other stand alone product, you must get Jeanette’s
Sales Site Quick
Start. Again all the basics at a price you can afford, and
Marcus can help you with doing the web work to get your site up and running right away.
E-commerce Complete Solution:
Talk about a one-stop solution to managing your prospect/client database, sending out your newsletter, delivering mini ecourses, handling all the details of delivering teleseminars, and selling and delivering products,
this shopping cart is the key.
It has different levels of participation: you can use it at first for sending out your newsletter and sequential autoresponders (which is just what mini ecourses are), and handling all the details of teleseminars (even before you have your one page website…or use it with your one-page website.)
Or, if you don’t want the marketing part, use it just for product sales. Or, combine
these two and you’re still under $50 a month! Click
here for more info
I even got the professional package (that allows for affiliates and electronic delivery of products) long before I used it just so I could
learn at my leisure.
Now in addition to getting the shopping carts system, you absolutely must get
Jeanette Cates’ Shopping Cart Quick Start: a 50 page manual that steps you through getting started with this cart. It will save you hours of grief and pay for itself many times over.
If you don’t yet take credit cards, or aren’t sure how to do it online, get yourself over to PracticePay. They serve professional services businesses and have all the tools you need to connect credit card processing to the shopping cart to your bank account through an online merchant account.

I love being able to cut out the manual labor of hauling checks to the bank! (I can also use this service to process charges at the ‘back of the room” when I am giving presentations.
Audio-Video Tools:
You too can easily
send an audio postcard through email, add audio to your website, record your teleseminars, get testimonials on your web site, all without an audio studio in your office or by your phone. I even use this service for recording coaching calls so my clients can listen again and really get what they are saying and what we’ve covered. (I’m using these recorded calls to re-listen and learn to sharpen my coaching too.) All for one low monthly fee.
Click here for more info. They’ve just added podcasting and videocasting too. And great training sessions to bring you up to speed.
One of the best, free sound editing programs is Audicity. It has a version for both Mac’s and PC’s…and the price is right!
Just click here.
